As a registered Great Place to WorkĀ® since 2017, Codex believes that the company’s success depends on a strong culture and continues investing in its people. The company has been named one of Ireland’s Best Managed Companies for 2023, a testament to an organisation’s ability to excel in various facets of business management, demonstrating exceptional leadership, sustainable growth, strong governance, and an unwavering commitment to innovation.

Sustainability is integral to the company’s strategy rather than being a superficial concept. Through the Codex Cares programme, the company is determined to reduce its environmental impact and ensure they’re sourcing ethical products, reducing its carbon footprint and finding more sustainable ways to deliver its products. In addition, Codex is committed to fostering a workplace culture that empowers employees to excel while leveraging the latest technologies to enhance efficiency and customer experiences. Their dedication to promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (E, D & I) extends beyond their office walls as they strive to positively impact the broader community through meaningful philanthropic endeavours.

Codex is committed to improving gender balance in leadership, with 50% of our senior management team being female-led. This commitment underscores our ongoing dedication to promoting equity and equal opportunities for everyone.

Brief history of the company

Codex was established in 1979 by Brendan Murphy, who saw a gap in the market for reliable, customer-first office supplies. The company grew steadily as customers recognised good value and unbeatable service. Innovation accelerated that growth, and when Brendan’s son Patrick joined the family firm in 2011, he saw the potential to take Codex to the next level. With a focus on people and culture, now-CEO Patrick Murphy has done just that, building on the company’s core values and turning Codex into Ireland’s no. 1 B2B office supplier.
